Any weight loss plan, to be successful long term, should be done gradually, and, depending on the amount of loss needed, under a doctor’s care. Having said that, MOST people could stand to lose 10% of their total current weight, and that can be done safely, and surprisingly, fairly easily, totally on their own. I’ve done it. Here’s how.

The absolute first and most critical step is to adopt “responsibility, accountability and consequence”. There are predispositions for body shape, a genetic plan for you. I can not be 7 feet tall. Maybe you can not have a 30 inch waist as a man or wear a size 2 as a woman. But I can stand with better posture, wear heels and be taller than I am. And you (and me) can be thinner than we are. Whatever that is. What you eat, how much, and what you do activity wise determines your WEIGHT. NOTHING ELSE. Accept that, BELIEVE that, and you can lose weight.

Calories in, calories out. It is that simple. A pound of weight is 3500 calories of intake that exceeds your needs. Consume 3500 calories less than you need and you will lose a pound. How to eat 3500 less than you need is the trick. Use both sides of the equation. Eat less, need more. I have done three simple life style changes to help me consume fewer calories.

First, reduce caloric drinks. I would rather eat my calories than drink them.

Second, reduce bread, potato, pasta and rice consumption. Not eliminate (unless fat loss is the goal), but center every meal around vegetables and protein.

Lastly, anything I can reach into a bag or bowl and grab to snack on is no where near me. That’s it.

How can you make your body need more calories? Increase activity level is one way. But not the best. While you are doing anything more physical than resting, your body is consuming more calories than it would otherwise. If this happens to be a cardiovascular workout, even better (makes for a healthier heart they say). Contrary to what you may think though, you can’t burn THAT many more calories doing cardio exercises. But it helps and you should do it (remember that healthy heart thing). The BEST way to burn more calories is to have more muscle. Two men, same weight, one with 10% body fat, the other with 25%, the more lean muscular man will burn 10-15% more calories 24 hours a day just living. That translates into 250-375 MORE calories he can eat every day and NOT GAIN WEIGHT. Your metabolism rises after any workout. But within 2 hours of a cardio session it’s back to normal. After a weight training session it stays elevated for 24 hours. Muscle mass requires 50 more calories per pound (should be protein) to exist on your body than fat.

To get the full benefit of weight loss, incorporate muscle building into your plan at some point. The people you see walking around with bodies you wish you had, were not born that way. They have CHOSEN to look that way. Responsibility, accountability and consequence.

Drink Tons of Water

Drink plenty of water. Everyone knows that we need 7 glasses of water every day but how much of us actually drinks 7 glasses each day. Start your day by drinking water. More water equal to healthier body. Stay away from colas. Tea and coffee are better than colas but I prefer tea because tea contains less caffeine. Fruit juice would be perfect for you especially if you make it by yourself.

Avoid Fried Food

Everyone love fried food but it contains oil and oil contains fat. So there is no doubt that you should stay away from fried food as possible. Staying away from fried food is quite hard as most of the food we eat are fried. Still make an effort to change it slowly step by step. Steam food is one of the greatest food that you should consider.

Do not Cut Meals

Go ahead eat your meals. Cutting meals maybe lose your weight a few pounds in the short term. In the long term I do not think so. Most people will give up in the first week because they feel that they have been a slave to the food. After a short period they start to eat as hell. The lesson is do not cut your meals. Take your meals as usually but take less sugar and salt.

Reward Yourself

Reward will encourage you the cope up with your weight loss program. I do not mean to go shopping for chocolate or ice cream. I mean buy shoes or cloth or anything that you wanted so much. Something that will keep you courage to lose weight. Please do not cheat yourself. Where do I get that money to buy shoes or cloth? Use money that you save from buying chocolate and ice cream.

Stop Smoking

I heard people said that quiting smoking will make you eat more. There is no such thing. Quiting smoking will save your life. Quit smoking provide better health. Quit smoking give you a whiter teeth. Quiting smoking save your money. No reason why you should continue smoking. There are so many benefits if you stop smoking.

You should combine the protein and vegetables in order to lose weight. The reason is that protein rich food gives you more energy and you won’t feel as hungry, compared to the carbs such as pasta and bread, that no matter how much you eat, you will feel hungry soon.

And the third step to weight loss is actually the food you eat that has protein and exercise. This is because exercise and protein work well together because protein helps you build muscle. The importance of exercise should not be taken lightly. If you are losing a lot of weight and are not building muscle, you may be losing muscle weight instead of fat weight. Your muscles keep your body healthy and you should not ignore the exercise.

How To Lose Weight For Summer

1. Walk on an incline… either a hill or treadmill

Now, if you don’t have a treadmill, then obviously you’ll have to go to the gym or somewhere to hop on one. If not, just walk up a nearby hill if you have one handy.

Listen, walking on a flat surface pretty much sucks for fast weight loss. It’s pretty good for long term weight loss, but that’s too slow for this summer. Now, walking on an incline, such as a 10-15 degree inclined treadmill… now that’s incredible for fast weight loss.

Walking on a flat surface and walking on an incline are totally different when it comes to quick results. All you have to do is walk on an incline for 15-20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Just 75-120 minutes a week. Not much when you have 10,080 minutes each week. Walking would take barely 1% of your time!

2. Jump on a mini-trampoline

Ok, you don’t have time you say? Fine, do this instead. Jump on the mini-trampoline during tv commercials. You watch tv, we all do. Might as well use the dead time during commercials to get a workout in. Each 1 hour tv show has about 22 minutes of commercials. So jump on the mini-trampoline during them and you save yourself a bunch of time since you don’t need to schedule a separate workout. Do this for a minimum of 20 minutes a day, everyday.

Hurry up now… if you did just those 2 things… 2 very simple things, you’ll lose wait for summer in record time.

Introduction

You’ve probably been a couple pounds overweight at some point in your life, I know I have! If so, you’ll know just how hard it is to stick to a diet. In the beginning we have tons of enthusiasm, we look forward to fitting into those clothes we’ve had stuffed in the wardrobe for the last year, to looking great, and to better health.

Trouble is, after about a week or so of not being able to eat the things we enjoy, we begin to get cravings. And what begins as a nagging for that chocolate cake suddenly becomes so unbearable we give in, have our cake, and eat it too.

Around about this time, most people do one of two things. Either we say “ah well, I’ve blown it for today, I’ll start again tomorrow” - What started off as one treat suddenly becomes a whole day of filling our mouths with everything we’ve been craving for for the last week.

The other person says, “It’s just too difficult. I give up”. Lets face it folks, we’ve all been there!
