Sometimes when it rains… it pours…
I keep hearing from clients and articles found in the newspaper or the Internet about some person claiming that they ate a serving of low fat yogurt before going to bed in the evening and lost lots of weight. And the reason for that is it increase the body’s metabolism.
So is this true or is it another hokey myth that should be thrown under the bus?
Well, my dear readers… I will tackle this question for you today!
Sarcasm is just another free service that I provide… alright… I’m just teasing you.
Let’s just move on…
And I will unequivocally state this… it is a myth to believe that any one thing will reduce your body fat. And just eating yogurt to burn fat is bogus for the simple reason that food does not burn fat. The only way to lose body fat is to have a calorie deficit.
You know the old output and input model… what you put in (food) should be less than what you put out (exercise).
Well duh! But you CAN make a healthy choice when it comes to yogurt. Eat the ones that don’t have any sugar in them. I love those probiotic yogurts with live yogurt cultures of bacteria such as lactobacillus.
It is good bacteria that helps your digestive system and pushes out the bad bacteria.
But if you want to increase your metabolism… workout! Simulating and growing your muscles increases your metabolism which burns your body fat.
To sum it up… most of the stuff you hear from out there is utter nonsense probably because people want to believe there is something magical and powerful and easy that will burn up fat like there is no tomorrow!
Sadly… that is wrong and never works out as promised. The truth of the matter is the best and only way to lose body fat is good nutrition and great workouts. But that is an article for another time.
